We are pleased to re-introduce you to Professor Dedi Meiri, the lead investigator at the Technion’s Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Cannabinoid Research. His lab is one of the largest cannabis research labs in the world, with a central focus on the discovery of “personalized cannabis medicine,” another way of saying: they spend a lot of time discovering which strains, and combinations of strains can be used as a treatment option for specific illnesses.
“When we started investigating the potential of cannabis to kill cancer cells or to stop their growth, we noticed that there is specificity. Strain 1 will attack one of type of cancer, and Strain 2 will attack another type of cancer. We currently have two types of cancer that we know well enough to adapt treatment for them. We are the only lab in the world today that knows how to identify all the active components of the cannabis plant. Over 100 cannabinoids, more than 100 terpenes, all with a variety of different medical applications and therapeutic benefits. From the moment that we developed this specialty, every cultivator, every researcher doing clinical trials, everyone operating in the cannabis space wanted to cooperate with us and wanted to know exactly what products they were working with.” – Dedi Meiri
