Member of Knesset Sharren Haskel Sharren Haskel was born in 5744 (1984), in Toronto, Canada. She immigrated to Israel with her family in 1985. Haskel enlisted in the IDF in the Border Guard, serving in Jerusalem during the second intifada. She completed a class commander course and served as a commander of Privates at Michmash base. She was released from the army with the rank of First Sergeant. Haskel completed her studies and was trained as a veterinarian nurse in Australia, where she worked in an animal hospital and volunteered with the organization to save wild animals, WIRES. She holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations from The Open University. Her term in the 20th Knesset began on 27 August 2015, replacing former MK Danny Danon following his appointment as Israeli ambassador to the UN. She is member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, the Internal Affairs and Environment Committee and the Special Committee on Drug and Alcohol Abuse. Ms. Haskel also chairs the Lobby for Medical Cannabis, and heads the Israel-Tajikistan and Israel-Chile Parliamentary Friendship Groups.
